Presidio County Democratic Primary Candidate Forum Feb 10th, 2024

The Presidio County Democratic Party held a forum in Presidio to introduce and ask a few questions of candidates competing in the Primary election this March. The event featured an enthusiastic yet polite audience of mostly people from the southern half of Presidio County. Candidates were given questions to answer in advance of the event in order to prepare.

There are no local Republican candidates, so the winners of the Primary will presumably go on to take office next January. The only way this would not happen is through successful challenge(s) by write-in independent candidate(s) in the General election this fall. This is rare but every so often that does actually occur out here in Far West Texas. There’s a good general overview of the event in the Big Bend Sentinel, but I was able to video the entire proceedings if you would like to see and hear the candidates for yourself.

The event is split into four videos; the first features County Attorney candidates and Tax Assessor/Collector candidates; the following one and a half cover Commissioner candidates (PCTs 1 & 3) and then onto audience questions at 26:30 through video # 3 into #4. Feel free to share, and comments are permitted as long as they’re not anonymous. Here’s the link to my Vimeo account and Video #1 of the series.

Thanks to the candidates for putting themselves out there and thanks especially to Ramon Rodriguez and Trey Gerfers for planning and running the event. Muchas gracias tambien to the City of Presidio for the use of their excellent Senior Center/meeting room at the Presidio Activity Center.
